Dashed Hopes!
It had been our hope here at Paw Parent to win several grant opportunities to give you, our loyal supporters a break from our ongoing appeals for contributions….
BUT...

Lola

Lola
...as a friend of mine, a seasoned fundraising professional of many years, observed recently, this is proving to be the most competitive and difficult landscape for raising funds she has ever experienced. And Paw Parent is feeling the strain.
Despite all the enthusiasm, time and efforts we put into the grant writing we did not receive the grants we applied for, which took its toll, not only in hours spent, but on expectations dashed, when all that work resulted in net zero rewards. This has forced us to drastically limit the intake of any new animals, unsure of Paw Parent’s ability to guarantee the safe and secure futures for the animals in our care.
And this is breaking our hearts!
The total in funds we hoped to receive via grants was $10,000.
The funds we received in 2024 gave us enough cushioning that should last us through the remainder of this year, but doesn't leave us enough wiggle room for unforeseen emergencies like the one we just encountered last week.
It was a rainy day when I heard very distressed barking coming from the neighboring property onto which new neighbors had moved just recently. What I saw was very upsetting! A German shepherd was tied up to a tree with no shelter. The leash had become entangled and left it with a mere 2 feet to move. I couldn’t stand by and do nothing, so two of us went over and knocked at the door which was opened by a woman who could have not been nicer. She was very understanding of our concerns and told us that the dog had been dumped on them by a friend and had just killed one of their ducks and was not getting along with one of their other dogs. She told us that they didn’t know what to do with her since they hadn't had time to built additional enclosures yet and was more than happy when we offered to take her.
So that’s how we ended up with Lola, a beautiful and loving one year old German Shepherd. So far she does get along with most of our dogs and has a wonderful disposition.
Emergencies like this one come are unforeseen and leave us no choice then to step in and help.
We’re reaching out to you now to ask for your support at any level to help us be prepared for emergencies that come our way.
While we are very limited in our ability to welcome in new rescues, your generous gift today will ensure we are able to continue caring for and rehoming the deserving animals now in our care.
A contribution of any denomination will be spent to directly benefit our charges, allowing us to pay for veterinary care, our caring staff, temporary shelter or life-long sanctuary as needed, for which we are deeply grateful.
As you know, Paw Parent began as my calling and, now, I vow to do whatever I must to sustain and protect the helpless animals fate has placed in Paw Parent's care.
The Unflagging Support of our Individual Donors has been the undergirding of our fundraising efforts from year one – and Paw Parent is depending on you still!
Until that Day when our last companion animal is placed in its happy home, we are so grateful to you as a member of our Paw Parent family in helping us to get them there.
Thank You from all of us for your kind support of our pets in need!

Foster
Help bridge the gap between life and death... become a foster parent today!
Being a "Foster Parent" requires a serious commitment of time, energy, and effort.
Although it is not an easy job, it can certainly be an incredibly rewarding experience
Fostering is the act of providing a temporary home until a good forever, permanent home is found. Fostering saves lives. It provides us with the time necessary to locate and evaluate potential permanent, forever homes for our animals.
Often, the pivotal factor between life and death for these animals is the ability to provide shelter for them while
a new home is being found.
